Art Journal Page - Gel Print BG & Spheres

Image
Hi All! Earlier this week I showed you an Art Journal Page already. Today I have another one that is also created using a gel printed background as base. The color scheme is different and also the technique I created the background. This one was made using a layering technique whereas the other one was done in a "watercolor effect" technique. I used several stencils, BG stamps and clear stamps to create this page. The options are endless and you can use whatever stamps/stencils you like best.  To add more texture and depth to my page I started by stamping some flowers with the Spiral Rose BG stamp and added details using the   Circles, Circles, Circles, and Create a Beach Scene stamp sets.  The circles cluster in the middle of the page was colored with white acrylic paint and distress crayons to look like spheres which gives the page a focal point as well as depth. Here is a closer look: I actually used just my fingers to color in the circles because i

Art Journal Page - Gel Print BG Butterflies

Hello Everyone! I have a very colorful project to share today. This is a journal page I've created using a gel printed background and then pimped using different techniques to add more depth and dimension. This was part of my Art Journal class at the Whimsy Retreat back in May. My gel print pages are inspired by Kate Crane . I love her style and love to watch her mixed media and gel print videos.  As you can see I used lots of different Whimsy products on this journal page. I have my gel printed background as a base and then I start adding texture with different stamps and stencils. I tend to use white first if the background is very colorful like this one to break it up a bit. I also use ink in the same colors I used already for my background to stamp. To make it even more pop I added black stamped numbers, circles and stripes. Finally I do some detailing using black and white pens. To add a focal point I've added butterflies and part of a die cut b

Mixed Media Art Journal Page - Flowers and Bees

Happy TGIF! Are you all exited? Tomorrow is Whimsy release time! Only a few hours until the Whimsy Stamps June release will be available in stores at midnight. Meanwhile I have an Art Journal page to share with you. This is one of the pages from my Whimsy Retreat Art Journal project. To create this page I sprayed the paper with water and added different colors of watercolor on top of the page and let the colors run down. You can also use a brush and start blending them slightly. Then using various stamps and stencils add stars and polka dots.  The main focus are the flowers in the middle. The flower image was stamped onto an old book page and fussy cut before adding it to the journal page and then colored it with distress crayons. The bees where stamped on a piece of gel printed paper I had left over and cut out. I used white acrylic paint/Gesso and a stencil, a bottle cap and an old plastic card to add more details to the page. I sp rinkled a circle of pear

Celebrate - Butterflies on Gelli Print Background

Hello Crafty Friends! I have yet another of my retreat projects to share with you today. I created a card using a gel printed background. Creating a gel print background was  my demo at the retreat in combination with an art journal / art journal pages. The BG is made using the 'watercolor technique' with acrylics and a gelli plate. I love how the colors turned out on this one. Then I stamped the butterflies from the   Butterflies Fluttering   all over the BG and heat embossed with white EP.  A white frame - Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle Die -, two more fussy cut butterflies and the Word & Shadow die set 'Celebrate'   complete my card. Watercolor Butterfly Note Card

I am back today with another Make & Take from the Whimsy Retreat last weekend. This time I have a little note card to share. The beautiful butterfly is a Dove Art stamp from the Butterflies Fluttering rubber stamp set. I stamped and colored the butterfly with Distress Inks to achieve a no-lines watercolor effect.  The little 'Hello' sentiment is included with the set . The different color sprinkles give an artsy look to the card. Whimsy store products used:                        Hugs,
