Whimsy Stamps November Release - Sneak Peek Day 1

Hello and Welcome to Day 1 of the November Release for Whimsy Stamps. We have lots of fun products to show you over the next 5 days. As a reminder, all new products will be available to purchase in the Whimsy Store starting on November 7th.

In our rubber line of stamps, we are introducing you to Eleanor today, the newest image from illustrator Sylvia Zet. Here is what I came up with using this cutie:

I colored her using Distress Markers (list of colors used below) then fuzzy cut her. The background was made using Gelatos  (Elderberry) - I applied it, rubbed it with my fingers and smoothed it out with a wet brush. Silver metallic liquid water color, white paint (Sharpie paint marker) and black distress marker where sprinkled all over the background. I adhered the image with foam tape. The sentiment is from the St. Nicholas clear set. I stamped the greeting with VersaMark onto black cardstock and heat embossed it white. A few silver star sequins complete the card.

Distress colors used
Pumice Stone, Hickory Smoke, Forest Moss, Antique Linen,
Ground Espresso, Vintage Photo, Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar,
Tattered Rose
Other:
Wink of Stella Clear,
White Extra Fine Sharpie Paint Pen (water based)
For background
Gelattos Elderberry, Liquid Watercolor Metallic Silver,
Black Soot Distress Marker, White Sharpie Paint Pen

Whimsy products used:

  St. Nicholas

Thanks for stopping by and come back tomorrow for another day of sneak peeks!

Whimsy Stamps' 31 Nights of Halloween & Giveaway

Welcome to Day 21 of the Whimsy Stamps Halloween Celebrations!

Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend so far! It is my day today to post on the Whimsy blog with my creation for our 31 Nights of  Halloween Celebrations. I made a card where I used one of Whimsy's older Halloween Stamps. It's a Wee Stamp illustrated by Sylvia Zet and called Batty Boo. This is one of my favorite Halloween images of all times. I think it is stinkin' cute! Who can resist these little bats with their smooshy faces?

We are giving away lots of goodies during our Halloween celebration month at the Whimsy blog.  Denise is so generous and my giveaway for you today is this beautiful Batty Boo stamp! So if you would like to have these cute bats in rubbah then please leave a comment ON THE WHIMSY BLOG ON MY POST -click here- It's that simple, nothing else to do! One comment per person!

You have until 11:59pm on October 30th to enter. The winner will be drawn and announced on the 31st - Halloween Night - on the Whimsy blog!

I colored the image with Copics and pencils using the no-lines technique. The background was created using a Tim Holtz Stencil (I think it's called 'Crackle') and Distress Ink  Tumbled Glass. The sentiment is from the 'Dracula I Compel You' clear set and stamped with Versafine black ink onto vellum paper. I also clear embossed the sentiment to keep it from smearing.
I stamped  some of the bats included with the 'Dracula I Compel You' set onto the background panel. To give it even more dimension I as well die cut some bats from black cardstock with the matching Dracula I Compel You Die set.  The vellum paper strip was then layered on to the background panel. I fuzzy cut the image and added it with some foam tape on top of the vellum strip. To embellish and add some 'Bling' to my card I used  sequins and orange enamel dots from the Summer Breeze enamel dots set.

Here is a close-up shot of the image

Sweetie

Hello stamping friends, hope you are all having a great Thursday. Here I am today with some more Whimsy - Wee inspiration for you.

This is Sweetie ...well that fits her pretty well, don't you think?! :-)

I colored her using Kuretake/ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens and my new traditional Japanese water colors Gansai Tambi, also from Kuretake. I love these. They are very opaque, bright and have an almost buttery consistency. Quite different from normal watercolors.

The image was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black onto Fabriano Artistico Extra White, hot pressed, 100% cotton, watercolor paper.

I also added some shabby white embossing enamel around the image and on the mat frame. The sentiment is from Clearly Whimsys "Into The Woods" set.

Thanks for visiting,

Frog Prince

Hello All and Happy Sunday! I tried a new technique today, well new for me that is.....no line coloring using water colors. I only did the no line technique with Copics so far. At the moment I am pretty addicted with my Kuretake Clean Color Brush Pens :-) so I thought I would give this a try.

Frog Prince is this cute image called, illustrated by Sylvia Zet - Wee Stamps for Whimsy. In my opinion it is a bit more challenging to use the no-line technique with watercolors than with Copics. Because of the very light outline you have to be very careful while coloring and only use a damp, almost dry, brush to blend the colors. It's also pretty time consuming. But I have to say I like how it turned out. To better showcase the image I kept my embellies  to a minimum.
