Hugs and Hisses

Hello Friends. I am sharing a cute little card today made with one of the newly released Whimsy clear sets illustrated by no other than the super talentend - and my fellow teamie - Melissa Andrew. It's called Nope Rope. It's a fun snake themed set for many occasions. I like snakes, not only as a stamp set ;-) Living here in Florida they are frequent residents in our backyard.  

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto 100lb Hammermill Digital Cover Stock, colored with Copics and cut the image out. For the background I used the Farmhouse Basket Stencil to airbrush with my Copics. 

On the top part of the same card layer I used the Polka Dot Stencil and some NUVO Glimmer Paste - Moonstone. It's quite hard to see in the photo - here is a close-up

The sentiment is also from the same Nope Rope set and was stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and layered onto black cardstock. I adhered the images and the sentiment with foam tape to the background layer and eventually added some matching sequins and enamel dots. I also glazed the balloon and hat with some Glossy Accents. 

My card base is turquoise 110lb Recollections cardstock and the lime green layer is a beautiful soft shimmer cardstock from a former PaperDoor kit.

Whimsy Stamps August Release - Day 5

Happy Sunday and Welcome to Day 5 of the Whimsy Stamps August Release. Today I have a beautiful image from Whimsy's DoveArt collection to share: Apple Branch

The image was stamped with Distress Ink Antique Linen onto Hammermill 100lb paper. I colored the image with Copics in the no-lines technique. I also used the NEW Notched Rectangle die set to cut out the image and the orange layer as well as the ticket shaped sentiment. The background layer was made stamping the Shiplap background stamp with Memento Toffee ink onto kraft cardstock. The sentiment is from an older set called 'You're my favorite' and the little heart can be found on the 'Holiday Occasions' set.

Brown: E42, 43, 47, 49, 87

Whimsy Stamps August Release - Day 2

Hello All! Welcome to Day 2 of the Whimsy Stamps August Rubber and Clear Release! 

Today I want to show you 3 new products all combined in my card - Cherry Blossom Background Stamp, Notched Rectangle Die set and Cheeky sentiment set:

I stamped the Cherry Blossom Background with Memento Tuxed Black ink onto Hammermill paper. I colored with Copics and cut out the center of the card using the Notched Rectangle dies. I also cut the same rectangle frame from black cardstock several times and used it to pop up my cut out cherry blossom frame. I added some blue outline to the cut out center of the cherry blossom background with a Faber Castell PITT Pastel Pencil. The sentiment from the Cheeky sentiment set was stamped with Versamark ink and white heat embossed onto black cardstock

Mixed Media Hanging Beach Canvas

Hello Everyone! Today I have my last project from this years Whimsy Weekend Craft Retreat to show to you. A Mixed Media Hanging Beach Canvas. This was the project I was teaching in my class. It's a lot of fun to make and what I especially like with Mixed Media it is very forgiving and there is actually nothing that can go really wrong. Just have fun, dive into all the different mediums and have fun, fun, fun and let your creativity  take over!

To prime the canvas I used gesso and after it had dried I added acrylic paint in shades of turquoise and blue. I stamped the awesome Whimsy Seashell background onto tissue paper (tim holtz plain tissue paper) with Versafine black ink. Let dry thoroughly then add part (or all if you prefer) of the shell tissue paper to the canvas using Super Heavy Gel Matte Medium (Liquitex). Then I started decorating the canvas with structure paste and stencils and added my embellishments and fussy cut images.
