Whimsy Stamps Virtual Weekend - Toucan Surf

Hello Whimsy Friends!

This weekend we are celebrating Whimsy Stamps First Virtual Weekend in our facebook group. If you are reading this in time please come and join us for many hours of crafty fun with games, freebies, videos, tutorials and prizes and of course lots of inspiration!

Today I'm sharing my card I made with one of the free digital images called Toucan Surf illustrated by Dustin Pike. You will find links to all the freebies in our facebook event HERE. These images are all free for you to download this weekend only. Comes Monday they will be available to purchase in the Whimsy store!

My card base is a top-fold A2 sized, white card. I decided to make a simple shaker card using the Shaker Maker Rectangle die set. I used the smaller of the two rectangle frame dies included in this set and created a shaker ornament in the center of my card. I love to use the extra thick Shaker Maker Foam Tape to create my shaker element. It gives just the perfect space for my shaker filling to move freely.
As background I used one of the papers from the Mermaid paper pack which I layered on a shiny blue cardstock panel. This beach scene paper is just the perfect background for my surfer dude.

I colored this fun bird using my beloved Karin Brushmarker Pro pens. Oh and yes, these birds come in green shades too ;-)  For a list of colors used please scroll down. I prefer to use Strathmore Mixed Media paper with these pens.

The sentiment is included with the image. To change the sentiment to white on black background I used Photoshop.

Comic Themed Whimsy Stamps Mini Release

Hello Whimsy Friends, Welcome to Another Mini-Release!

We are celebrating another Mini-Release at Whimsy Stamps today and WOW what can I say...it is FA-BU-LOUS! It's Comic Book Themed and includes stamps, dies, papers, stencil! You can check it out in the store HERE!

On my card today I used 3 of the new products: Comic Burst A2 Die, Comic Half-Tone Stencil and BAM! You're Old clear stamp set.

To create my card I started out with a bright yellow A2 size, top-fold card base. I die cut the Comic Burst A2 Die from red cardstock and and applied the Comic Half-Tone Stencil to the yellow card base using white pigment ink. Then I stamped the images and sentiments and cut them out. The one sentiment was cut out using the bubble die that is included with the Comic Burst A2 Die. I stamped the word BAM! with Versafine Paradise ink and colored the Supergirl image with Copics. I assembled my card using glue and foam tape/dots for more dimension. Some Sparkletz Crystal Stars finish off my card.

Fishing You All The Best

Hello Crafty Friends!

No coloring today on my fish bowl card. I've been a bit behind with my DT creations due to life being in the way but finally caught up. This die set - released earlier this month -  is called NEW Kitty Cat  Extras die set. I've used the fish bowl and fish dies from this set to create the main image. The die cut water plants are from an older set called Build an Ocean die set. I used the Making Waves stencil to create the water in the bowl. A little extra touch was added by using one of the NEW Fish & Mice border dies with an underlayer. of matching blue cardstock.

Hot Flash - Whimsy Mini Release

Happy Memorial Day!

Whimsy Stamps is having another Mini-Release today and I am showcasing several of the new stamps and dies on my comic-book style card today. The NEW Menopause clear stamp set is just hilarious {and fits me oh so well...LOL} and goes perfectly with the the NEW Comic Speech Bubble dies and NEW WTF Large Word & Shadow die. All the A2 sized Wonky Window dies are perfect for creating comic-book style cards. I went with the Wonky Window 1 die on my card.
I colored the image using Karin Markers on Bristol smooth paper. If you heard me say I don't like Bristol smooth for watercolors, you can read what changed my mind here

Moo-chas Gracias

Happy Wednesday!

On todays card I showcase super adorable stamps from the Crissy Armstrong collection that were released earlier this month. This set is called Barnyard Squares. I stamped onto Bristol smooth cardstock and colored with my ZIG brush markers. The A2 size die is called

I have to say I never liked the Bristol smooth for watercoloring until recently. I bought a new pad of the Bristol smooth from Strathmore and compared it to the one I had for several years already (also Bristol smooth from Strathmore). Not only is the cover different but also the paper feels different and is in deed smoother. It looks like they changed the way they seize the paper. With the old one it was not possible to watercolor, the paint soaked into the paper immediately. Love the newer Bristol smooth and I also love that it is bright white!
