Whimsy October 1st Release - Gargoyle: 'I've Got My Eyes On You!'

Happy TGIF! Today is the last of 4 Halloween releases by Whimsy stamps. I have an A2 sized card to share today where I used the utterly adorable Gargoyle and Friends clear stamp set by Dustin Pike.

I colored this cutie using Dr. Ph. Martins India inks. The image was stamped onto mixed media paper with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. To have the Autumn Hues papers peek through I used the Revealers 3 die.

To make the sentiment stand out more I stamped it on black cardstock with white pigment ink (Hero Hues Unicorn). I then cut it out using the Comic Speech Bubbles die set and adhered it to the card front with foam dots. A few yellow and purple sequins finish off my card.

New Release - You Are On A Roll

Hello Stamping Friends & Happy Saturday! There are super cute new stamps and other products in the Whimsy shop today, all available HERE.

Below is an A2 sized card I made using some of the new products combined with previously released things. Please scroll down for a list of Whimsy products used. Whimsy's array of products gives you such a wide choice to choose from that you will always find matching stamps, dies, papers etc.

I recently splurged and bought some new alcohol markers. I still have all of my Copics of course but I also like to try new things and with the Copics and Copic refills being so expensive lately and sometimes also hard to get, I wanted to see what else is out there that is of good quality for a better price. So I did weeks of research and read lots of reviews and watched You Tube videos. I decided to try out the Ohuhu alcohol markers from the Honolulu series. They also have a brush and a broad nib. So far I've swatched them all out and also colored several images. I have to say I am very impressed. They are super juicy, blend like butter and are available in 242 different colors (at least the Honolulu series). I will do some more testing and then I might do a product review here on my blog. If you are interested keep an eye on my blog during the next couple of weeks.

Ok onto my card now....I started out by stamping my image from the NEW On A Roll clear stamp set onto Hammermill 100lb Color Copy Paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then colored with my new Ohuhu markers and fussy cut the image. Scroll down for a list of colors used for this image.

To create the background I used the NEW Revealers 1 die set together with the previously released Giraffe stencil and a texture paste from Cosmic Shimmer in Frosted Blossom. The sentiment is included with the clear stamp set. I stamped part of the sentiment directly on my card layer and the other part with Versamak ink onto black cardstock and white heat embossed it. When I was done I added my image with foam dots onto my background layer and popped everyhting onto a black A2 cardstock base. A few added sequins finish off my card.

I am adding a list of marker colors I've used. Maybe you also own the Ohuhu markers and are having a hard time to find color combinations. The color naming system is different from the Copic system and I honestly haven't found out yet how it's supposed to work...LOL. Because even if your marker is labeled e.g. R for reds you will find R's ins several different color groups and the numbers do not yet make sense to me either. But with my swatch for help it was quite quick and easy easy to find color combinations.

Ohuhu Markers used:
Yellow: Y1, Y2, YR2, YR1
Brown: E380, E400, R28, YR95
Pink: R21, R23, RV320
Eyes: BGII03, B340
Shoes: R26, R280, R27, R28 / CGII00, BG050,BG070,CG5
and the colorless blender

Lookin' Shark XOXO

Hey friends & Happy Sunday! Another cute shark card from me. This time I opted for a slimline version.

I combined the Lookin' Shark clear stamp and outlkine die set with the Taffy Slimline Papers and Wavy Edger dies as well as the Cutie Alphabet die set. Combining all these new products makes for a fast fun card.

I colored again with pencils and a base layer of alcohol markers as described here in this post.

Octopi Guy Challenge

Hello there! Ok, so here is yet another one with the adorable Octopi Guys. I know, I know, it's the third card in a row showing off the sweet octopus but I can't help it 😎 I love them so much 💜

My friends Alanna, Faye and I are doing a mini challenge again. This time we are all playing with the Octopi Guys....obviously....LOL. We all use different coloring mediums. Alanna is using Copics, Faye pencils and I used watercolors.

Please visit their blogs to see both of their fantastic creations:

Here is what I came up with using Karin markers to color my Octopi Guy

I decided to do a slimline shaker card. I used the Connected Bubbles die and NEW Slimline Under the Sea papers to create my background with the shaker element. I die cut the Connected Bubbles several times from white cardstock and once from glitter paper. I stacked them with the glitter version on top. This gives more dimension. I then made the largest bubble in the center a shaker element. I filled it with Sprinkletz Fish Tank. I glued some of the tiny fishes to the background of the shaker. This way they wont fall all down when the card is held upright.

Here is a close-up on the shaker element and the octopus. I also used some of the Octo-Elements  to decorate and bring everything together.

To color my Octopi Guy I used Karin Brushmarkers Pro. I stamped with Versamark Clair Nocturne ink - my favorite ink when I do watercoloring - onto Grumbacher 140lbs. watercolor paper. I stamped on the smooth side. I just recently discovered that paper at Walmart. It is fairly cheap and honestly I did not expect much. To my surprise I really liked it. Especially with the Karin markers it is working very well. It holds water quite well without starting to pill right away when doing several layers. For the price this is an awesome heavy weight watercolor paper to stamp on and watercolor images.

More Octopus Greetings - Big Hugs!

I just can't help it, I'm totally in love with the Octopi Guys ♡😍❤😍♡. This time I used one of the sweet characters together with the NEW A2 sized Wonky Window 4 die and the NEW Big Hugs Word die set

I made the middle window a shaker element and also dry embossed the background using the Wave Lengths Simline Embossing Folder. I colored the Octopus with Karin markers and cut him out using the matching NEW Octopi Guys outline dies.

I used the NEW Slimline Under the Sea papers to create the background of the other two windows. For my sentiment I die cut the NEW Big Hugs Word die set from white glitter paper.

Octopus Selfie! - Whimsy Release

Hey friends! There is another mini release from Whimsy Stamps in the store today and it's ocean-tastic 😉🐠🐙. See for yourself...

I used the adorable Octopi Guys clear stamp set together with the Octo Elements clear stamp set and some earlier released dies (seelink list below) to create this scene. I colored this funny guy with Karin markers and a waterbrush.

I die cut all the stamped and colored pieces using the matching sets - Octopi Guys outline dies and Octo Elements Outline dies. Then I arranged everything on my card front and used glue and foam dots/tape to adhere all the pieces. The white glitter frame was created using the Wavy Pierced Rectangles die set.
