Bunny Christmas

Hey All! Using the Whimsy Stamps SurReally Cool Christmas Slimline Papers together with any stamped image makes fantastic, easy and fast Christmas cards.

On my card I used the 'Bunny Winter Holiday' clear stamp set illustrated by Crissy Armstrong together with one of the  SurReally Cool Christmas Slimline Papers. I cut out the patterned paper using the Slimline Fancy Frame die set. The banner I used for the sentiment is from the same die set. To add some glitz I decorated the card with Sparkletz - Crystal Stars.

Merry Pup-Mas

Happy Tuesday Friends! It's time for some Christmas cheer....puppy Christmas cheer ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿถ The new super adorable 'Pups for Christmas' clear stamp set from Whimsy's Crissy Armstrong line was used to create my first Christmas card for this season. I am totally in love with this new set and one of the reason is that these cute pups look so much like my Luna when she was a pup. Crissy told me that Luna was in fact her inspiration when she drew these super cute images. So of course I had to color this sweet little cutie and make her a fawn little Boxer pup ๐Ÿ’—

...and here is Luna ๐Ÿ’“ when she was 3 months old. That was last year in October.

I created the background using Distress Spray Stains (salvaged patina & prize ribbon). I then sprinkled on some white acrylic paint and white shimmery mica powder. I also drizzled on some water to create even more texture. The large white star was added using white pigment, white ink, white marble glitter and the Twinkle Cluster stencil. The image was stamped onto Strathmore mixed media paper and colored using Caran D'ache Pablo pencils.

Whimsy Mid Month Mini Release - #Fun

What a fun release this is - Whimsy Stamps mid month mini release! Do you like gnomes? Then this one definitely is for you! Check it out here in the Whimsy store. All Whimsy products I used are listed below with links!

I stamped the cute little gnome with the kite onto Strathmore mixed media paper using a black hybrid ink. I knew I want to use several different coloring mediums and this gave me options. I ended up coloring this cutie with alcohol markers, pencils and watercolors.

I have some alcohol markers which I do not like to use as much as others. So I had to think of a different way to use them and I tried combining them with other mediums. On my card today I used them together with pencils.
Oh and I will not mention any names of markers I don't like because I feel it is a personal preference if you like a marker brand or not. So for someone else they might be the perfect marker.

What I do is I lay down the lightest color (sometimes light and medium but mostly just the lightest color) with the alcohol marker as kind of a base color. Then I do the rest of the coloring and shading with my pencils. I combined pencils and markers before but then I colored like I normally would with markers and just used the pencils to add some more shading. In this case I used 3-4 different shades of each color with pencils. Also a very light shade that matches the shade of the alcohol marker. This makes blending much easier. I like this method and it is a fun way to color and faster than just using pencils on its own. If I use the markers this way I can get at least something out of them instead of having them just sitting on my shelves and drying out because i don't like this particular brand.

The outline and base was done with waterbased brush markers and instead of a waterbrush or brush and water I used a waterbased clear shimmer brushmarker to blend it out. This added a fantastic soft shimmer to my background as you can see in the photo above.

The background was stamped with the NEW Slimline Scribbles BG stamp and Oxide inks (kitsch flamingo, salvaged patina and mustard seed). All the card layers including the slimline cardbase were die cut using the NEW Slimline Cornered Rectangles Die Set.

Whimsy Stamps Mid April Release & New Product Reveal!

Hey Whimsy Fans - it's release day including a new product reveal. Whimsy Stamps expanded it's already versatile line of products - Slimline Embossing Folders - WooHoo!!

I am showcasing both of the brand new slimline embossing folders on my creations today. All Whimsy products I used are linked below.

Here is my first card using the following new products: NEW Mushroom Mushup, NEW Gnome Friends, NEW Slimline Thatched Embossing Folders.

I also used Slimline Wonky Windows 1 die as my card frame and some of the butterflies from the Flight of the Butterflies clear stamp set. I colored the images with Derwent Inktense Blocks & Derwent Coloursoft Pencils.
To create the background I used the NEW Slimline Thatched Embossing Folder with green cardstock and ran a gold pigment ink pad over it so only the raised part gets inked.

On my second card I used the NEW Slimline Wave Length embossing folder together with the NEW Slimline ZIG ZAG Edger dies.

This is a pretty simple card with the white embossed BG and colored zig zag stripes on top. I stamped the Magnificent from the Fantabolous clear stamp sentiment set right on top of the zig zag strips using Versafine Clair Nocturn ink. The rest of the sentiment was stamped onto white cardstock, cut out and added with foam tape.

Picked For You!

Hello & Happy Spring!  These little Gnome Gardeners from Whimsy Stamps Crissy Armstrong collection make the perfect images for Spring cards. They are from Whimsy's newest release and available in the store.

The image was stamped onto Strathmore Mixed Media paper and colored with ZIG Clean Color Brush Pens. I love how bright these pens are. I also added some details using the clouds, flowers and mushrooms from the Slimline Meadows die set.

To create this shadow box style A2 sized card I cut out a window with the 4th smallest die from the Notched Squares nested dies set. Then I adhered my image behind the window using foam tape.

The sentiment is included with the Gnome Gardeners clear set. I stamped onto white Hammermill cardstock using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and cut it out with the stitched oval die from the Quick Strip die set.

Fairies and Gnomes - Whimsy Stamps February 10th Mini Release

Happy Wednesday and Welcome to another Whimsy Stamps Mini Release!

This time I am visiting the magical world of fairies and gnomes and with the newly released Whimsy products its easy to create this magical fairy garden on my card.

To create my card I started out by making a horizontal top-fold slimline card which is 3.5 x 8.5 inches in size. I then chose one of the new Slimline Enchanted Forest Papers as my background.
The frame on top is the Slimline Waves die, cut from white glitter paper. I then used the Build a Fairy Garden die set to create the scene.
I die cut the mushrooms from mixed media and glitter paper and colored all non glittery parts with Copic markers. The little fairy was die cut from green glitter paper. I used the fairy dust die to create a stencil for applying matching green glitter.
The cute gnome couple is from the Gnome One Like You clear stamp set as is the sentiment. The image was colored with Copics as well. Some die cut butterflies from vellum paper and green cardstock finish off my card.

Copic colors used:

Skin: E000, E00, E11, R21
Hair: YR30, YR31, E23
Beard/Mushroom: W1, W2, W4, W6, W8
Hats: RV93, RV95, RV99  BV31, BV34, BV25
